We therefore commit to the "guidelines for the safe and effective use of whole body electromyostimulation (EMS)", developed by the sports scientists of the universities of Cologne, Kaiserslautern and Erlangen.
According to recent studies, EMS training is one of the "top trends" in the German fitness market. The modern type of workout has now established itself as a highly efficient method for improving physical fitness, performance and health. However, the highly developed technology does not play the only decisive role. Equally important - and even essential for ensuring the success of the training and a safe application - is the trainer. He is familiar with his customers and uses the “EMS tool” in order to set a training-relevant stimulus in the shortest time possible. He accompanies and supervises the progress and simultaneously functions as a consultant for the right diet and a healthy lifestyle. The appointments and the support also ensure sustainable motivation along with a sufficient regularity of the training, through which personal training goals are optimally achieved.
In the application of EMS training, safety plays an important role. The current scientific results clearly show what is necessary for the safe use of the technology. For this reason, guidelines have been developed based on the recommendations of the respective sports scientists of the German Universities of Cologne, Kaiserslautern and Erlangen, who are researching in the field of EMS. The guidelines which should always be taken into account when using EMS are the result of a consensus event with representatives of science, training and equipment manufacturers.
The resulting recommendations from the scientific community are now standard in the EMS training and also an important criterion for TÜV certification for EMS providers.
